About Bee Labs

We combine work in both the lab (genetics and genomics) and the field (behaviour and ecology).

We combine work in both the lab (genetics and genomics) and the field (behaviour and ecology). We have a well-equipped molecular laboratory and bee house at KSA’s Camperdown campus. We also undertake fieldwork across Australia and overseas.

We research the Behaviour, Ecology and Evolution (BEE) of bees, including the commercial honey bee (Apis mellifera), Asian honey bees (all other Apis sp.), Saudi Arabis’s social stingless bees (Tetragonula and Austroplebia sp.) and other Australian native bees. We also work on quite a few other organisms too, including mites and bee viruses, wasps, birds and more.
